چکیده

Abstract Purpose This paper proposes an integrated method for optimizing the response of underactuated linear vibratory feeders operating in open-loop control, under generic periodic excitations. The goal is ensuring a uniform motion tray, despite presence less actuators than degrees freedom and several specifications desired motion. Method To cope with nature these systems their non-minimum phase behavior, dynamic structural modification inverse dynamics approach are properly by exploiting common definition system internal dynamics. In problem, stabilized through output redefinition resulting ordinary differential equations to compute causal actuation forces, almost-exact tracking as many coordinates number actuators. remaining interest improved proper design mechanical parameters, based on Results effectiveness proposed assessed numerical simulations performed challenging case 14-degrees feeder adopted manufacturing plants convey products. Conclusion results evidence benefits obtained integrating together Inverse effective, since error imposed negligible. On other hand, introduced proved well, reduction also non-imposed coordinates.

Trap Design for Vibratory Bowl Feeders

The vibratory bowl feeder is the oldest and still most common approach to the automated feeding (orienting) of industrial parts. In this paper we consider a class of vibratory bowl filters that can be described by removing polygonal sections from the track; we refer to this class of filters as traps. For an n-sided polygonal part and an m-sided polygonal trap, we give an O(nm log n) algorithm t...

Simplified model for periodic nanoantennae: linear model and inverse design.

We determine and use a minimal set of numerical simulations to create a simplified model for the spectral response of nanoantennae with respect to their geometric and modeling parameters. The simplified model is then used to rapidly obtain best-fit modeling parameters to match experimental results, accurately predict the spectral response for various geometries, and inversely design antennae to...

Robust broadband periodic excitation design

This paper considers a rather practical problem arising when inexperienced users misuse the (otherwise well designed) periodic broadband excitation signals during the measurement or signal processing phase of an identification process. Using a fractional period of the excitation signal instead of full periods may affect not only the precision because of the well known leakage effect, but may ca...

Dynamics and control of a class of underactuated mechanical systems

This paper presents a theoretical framework for the dynamics and control of underactuated mechanical systems, defined as systems with fewer inputs than degrees of freedom. Control system formulation of underactuated mechanical systems is addressed and a class of underactuated systems characterized by nonintegrable dynamics relations is identified. Controllability and stabilizability results are...
